Stefanie + Stephen

Thinking back to last year, Stefanie and Stephen’s wedding was a definite highlight for our Ruffles & Bells team. Their magical day oozed modern elegance and was set in the romantic lakeside location of Albert Park, at the iconic Melbourne venue Carousel.

As stylists we wanted we kept the styling minimal and reflect the curved architecture and modern, rendered exterior of Carousel. This allowed us to make the most of the space at Carousel and also that it compliments the glittering view of the waters around Albert Park Lake. We worked closely with Stefanie who had an incredible vision for her day, she wanted a light, airy space for the guests to feel comfortable and enjoy.

The couple's colours and tones were chosen to reflect the late summer date, an almost autumnal vibe – with hues of nudes, sand, toffee and ivory. Which allowed us to build on the nordic minimalism element of the styling, we used ceramics, wooden elements, timber and unstructured wild and romantic florals. Florists Ivy & Eve created the stunning, wild and romantic florals that were a big part of the styling for Stefanie + Stephen, the florals allowed us to create a mix of modern romance with Scandinavian design with wooden elements, Stephen being a tradie himself, he wanted to create something big for their wedding day. He made a large arch that served as a backdrop to the bridal table. The florals and the arch Stephen created, were made to add Illusions of movements through the florals to add height and drama on every angle and all adding to the simple elegance of the venue.

The reception entrance was styled with a multilayered seating plan, this was used as a teaser of what's to come inside the reception! The couple had long tables fill their reception which created a beautiful feel to the room, the autumnal tones and florals created a beautiful minimalistic vibe. Each table was filled with stunning florals, custom menus, black cutlery, and a cheeky chilli oil Stefanie + Stephen designed for their guests that said "I get a kick out of you”.

The floral installation above the dance floor came from the idea when Stef and Steve mentioned that they loved how Carousel opens up to the lake.
We wanted guests to walk in and draw their eyes from the installation and out to the water where they enjoyed drinks and canapes and of course, the view.
